Royal Television Society Award:

A film about Talbot House made by Manmedia/Salford University has won a Royal Television Society Award in the Best Newcomer catergory. 'Carefree' also won BBC best of the Northwest (Exposures film festival) and the Corona Extra Audience Award.

Carefree depicts three dedicated carers, the mothers of children who are severely disabled. Humour and compassion are compellingly evoked as the film documents the carers' preparations for a well-deserved break in Blackpool. The filmmakers, granted remarkable access by the families, provide an essential voice to those often ignored by mainstream media.

Latest update: 'Carefree' is currently nominated for the National Royal Television Programmes Award in the Nations and Regions catergory. The ceremony is to take place at the Grosvener Hotel, Park lane on the 17th March 2009. Bernie will be representing Talbot House for Manchester.....WATCH THIS SPACE.....
